SRINAGAR, June 9: Governor N. N. Vohra, who is Chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, reviewed the arrangements being made for the Yatra which is scheduled to commence on July 2.
P.K. Tripathi, Chief Executive Officer, Jitendra Kumar Singh, Additional CEO and R.K. Pandita, General Manager (Works) of the Shrine Board attended the review meeting held at Raj Bhavan.
Governor reviewed the to-date position regarding all issues relating to the Baltal – Holy Cave axis, on-going work to repair the Baltal – Holy Cave track, snow clearance at Holy Cave and Panjtarni, repair of damaged railings, particularly in the Railpathri-Brarimarg-Kali Mata track.
Additional CEO and GM (Works) reported to the Governor about the ongoing work on the tracks which is being done by the various Government agencies. The State PWD Department has commenced work on upgradation of Rangamorh – Baltal – Domel and Neelgrath – Baltal roads and repairs of the track from Domel onwards. The Pahalgam Development Authority has taken up the snow clearance work on the track from Holy Cave to Panjtarni.
He also reported the steps being taken by the Power Development and PHE Departments for restoring electricity and water supply at the Baltal Base Camp. He also informed that toilets and baths are being installed both inside and outside the Baltal Base Camp. The Additional CEO apprised the Chairman that Army, CRPF and the State Police have started arriving at the Baltal Camp.
Chairman has directed Additional CEO and GM (Works) to undertake visits to Sheshnag and Panjtarni Yatra Camps by June 15 and he will hold the next review meeting on June 16.
