JAMMU, June 9: Sikh United Front has alleged that the State Government has betrayed the Sikhs by making false claims of settlement with agitating Sikh community.
Addressing a press conference today Sudershan Singh Wazir, former SGPB chairman and president Sikh United Front flanked by various Sikh leaders launched attack on the Government by expressing that SSP Jammu has not been transferred but has in fact, proceeded on leave and no one else has been posted as SSP Jammu in his place.
As promised by Speaker Legislative Assembly Kavider Gupta and BJP MP Jugal Kishore Sharma on behalf of the Government during a meeting with Mahant Manjeet Singh Ji that an enquiry commission headed by a retired Judge of High Court will be set up to look into the circumstances leading to the death of a young man and people responsible for creating this situation. Instead of honouring the commitment, a mockery has been made by asking the Divisional Commissioner Jammu to hold an enquiry where as the Divisional Commissioner himself being the head of the administration here is an accused and responsible for this ugly situation.
Mr Wazir said another mockery of justice is that an FIR U/S 302 has been registered and an accused alleged to have been arrested who happens to be a PSO and was holding an AK 47 in his hands where as according to sources, the boy has been killed with a revolver bullet which raises lot of questions as to who fired the revolver shot and who ordered the firing ? This mystery is being camouflaged deliberately.
Accusing the Govt of blatant deceit and betrayal with Sikh community the SUF said that in backdrop of Govt response to recent incidents of disturbances in Jammu, the community is feeling deeply hurt and restive.
Mr Wazir expressed deep gratitude to all sections of society across the State, particularly the business community and Bar Association of Jammu, for standing by the Sikhs in their hour of dismay. He said the incident was avoidable but administration failed to deal with the situation. It smells of some conspiracy.
Wazir said while the community leadership was asking replacement of entire divisional level and district level administration for two clear purposes of rebutting the complacency and getting more balanced and experienced people at helm so as to avoid recurrence of any such incident, the Government chose to circumvent the situation. Leave aside change in Divisional and District administration, they manoeuvred to send the SSP Jammu on leave and made announcement that he has been transferred, Wazir remarked.
Ramneek Singh Bijral, former Jammu DGPC member, Gajan Singh, Paramjeet Singh, Ravinder Singh Kala, Surinder Singh and Kulwant Singh were also present.
