Workers of DF, SS hold protest against power cuts

JAMMU, June 10: The workers of the Dogra Front (DF) and Shiv Sena (SS) under the leadership of  Ashok Gupta took out a procession in Jammu City and burned the refrigerators against the power cuts in the  city which has made the lives of people a living hell.
Guptas said “about Rs 5 crores and 30 lakhs is the balance amount of the transformers towards the vendors by the PDD and they have stopped the repairing of the transformers till their remaining balance is reimbursed. Since there is no electricity, the PHE Department is not able to supply water to the people.
Gupta demanded that when the people of Jammu are paying tariff according to the meters and there is commitment of the Chief Engineer to provide 24 hours electricity  to the people of Jammu why they are not fulfilling their commitment.
He demanded installation of another receiving station of 50 MW at Janipur to tide over the power crisis in the Jammu Constituency.
He warned the Government that if power supply does not improve the people will not pay power tariff to PDD as Government had made a commitment that round the clock power  will be supplied in the metered areas.
