SRINAGAR, June 12: Minister for Health, Medical Education, ARI and Trainings Ch. Lal Singh visited Government Press and Government Dental College, here today and inspected the infrastructure damaged in September-2014 floods.
While inspecting Government Press, the Minister stressed upon the employees and workers to work with more vigour for better service delivery. The Minister called for introduction of new innovative methods and introduction of latest technology so as to bring Government Press at par with any other modern printing unit. He further said that measures will be taken to make the Press as a profit earning organization, adding that the present Government will examine the avenues for providing the Press with latest printing and other related equipment.
The Minister directed the General Manager, Government Press, Ajaz Ahmad Akhoon, to ensure that the premises is cleared of all debris and junk which was resulted due to floods. With regard to the damaged machinery and other unserviceable furniture and equipment, the Minister asked for their immediate auctioning.
The Minister also inspected various sections in the premises including, Press, Stationery and Supplies.
Director Stationery and Supplies Manisha Sharma, informed the Minister that the Department has received Rs 25 lakh as insurance claim against the damage to the Stationery Store during the floods.
Responding to various issues of the employees, raised by President, Government Press Employees Union, Syed Muzamil Ahmad Rizvi, the Minister said that all their genuine demands will be considered for redressal on priority.
Later, the Minister also visited Government Dental College where he went around the campus and took stock of functioning of various departments. The Minister also interacted with the patients and urged the concerned to provide them appropriate care and treatment.
During the visit the Minister inspected dental halls installed with newly procured equipment. He also took stock of the damaged books of the Library, dental chairs, X-Ray and other related equipment; he asked the concerned to auction the same at the earliest.
Lal Singh also interacted with the Nursing Staff and Dental Assistants and assured early redressal of their demands.
Principal Dental College Dr.Reyaz Farooq, Medical Superintendent Dr.Qaiser Ja, Dy Med Supdt. Dr. A Latief and other faculty members accompanied the Minister.
