Green Valley Red, Bisons Rugby claim winner, runner-up titles in U-10 girls category

SRINAGAR, June 20: The first ever Kids Tag Rugby of U-10, U-12 and U-14 boys and girls categories organised by Jammu and Kashmir Rugby Association under the aegis of Indian Rugby Football Union and supervision of J&K State Sports Council concluded today at Indoor Sports Complex, here.
On the valedictory function, Sarmad Hafeez, Vice Chairman, LAWDA distributed the certificates and prizes among the winners, runners up and the participants.
Speaking on the occasion, Sarmad said “I have seen scores of U-10 boys and girls playing tag rugby. This is a healthy sign for the sports. We should encourage them and this will be the future for rugby in the State and in country”.
“I am also surprised to know that all the participants are fresher and playing rugby first time in their life”, he said and hoped that Rugby Association will work on the same players and then the day is not far when our teams will be on the top at the National and International levels.
Divisional Sports Officer Kashmir, J&K State Sports Council, Mushtaq Ahmad said that Rugby Association is the lone association in the State working to polish the talent of budding players.
Among others present were Director Scholars Educational Institution Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Dr Suhail Rehman Chowdhary, Principal, Iqra International Group of Schools, Irfan Aziz Butta, General Secretary, Mufti Hamid Yaseeen, Executive Member, JK Rugby Association and Manager SKISC, Sheikh Tulal Ahmad were also present on the occasion.
FINAL RESULTS:
In under-10 girls, Green Valley Red and Bisons Rugby claimed winner and runner-up titles respectively.
In under-12 girls, Green Valley Blue emerged winner and Sailah Sublime remained runner-up.
In under-10 boys, Scholars School Natipora, Iqra International and Green Valley claimed winner, runner-up and second runner-up titles respectively.
In under-12 boys, Linton Hall School emerged winner, whereas Green Valley and Green Valley White secured second and third places respectively.
In under-14 boys, Green Valley emerged winners, whereas Linton Hall School and Shah Hamadan secured runner-up and second runner-up title.
