Confident MBS Hockey Club face Hiranagar Club eves in final tomorrow

JAMMU, June 26: After an impressive 3-0 victory over Maharaja Ranjeet Singh Hockey Club, a confident Mahant Bachittar Singh (MBS) Hockey Club team will now take on Hiranagar Hockey Club eves in the final of the ongoing Ist Mahant Bachittar Singh Gold Cup Hockey Tournament, being organized by Mahant Bachittar Singh Hockey Club, Makhanpur Simbal under the aegis of Hockey J&K at Government High School, Simbal Camp.
With both the sides showcasing much agility packed with on-field skills, MBS Hockey Club and Hiranagar Hockey Club will be seen contesting a very crucial match on June 28.
Having made an impressive comeback after beating Maharaja Ranjeet Singh Hockey Club by 3-0, the MBS Hockey Club produced a rampant display of stick skills to claim their berth in the final of the tournament.
Keeping the track record of both the teams in mind, on June 28 match will be a nail biter as both the teams have given a tough fight to each other whenever they have met.
It will be interesting to see a match between the two teams where MBS Hockey Club will be seen unleashing all the weapons with an aim to repeat their performance against Maharaja Ranjeet Singh Hockey Club.
While getting into winning form today, MBS Hockey Club missed a lot of chances before sealing victory.
Gaganjot Singh of MBS Hockey Club netted the first goal of the match in the 23rd minute of the first half, which Singh Hockey Club failed to equalize and the first quarter ended with 1-0 goal.
In the second half, Jaspreet Singh scored the second goal of the match in the 36th minute through penalty corner, which was broadly appreciated by the audience through whistling and hooting.
As the players of Singh Hockey Club were finding loop hole to equalize the scorecard, Shivam Sharma of MBS Hockey Club shot on target during the 49th minute, after pounding opposition goalkeeper with a deft placement.
In the remaining 11 minutes game, players of Singh Hockey Club strived hard and raided the opponent’s goal post several times, but could not convert even a single raid into goal and lost the semis by straight three goals to zero.
MBS Hockey Club got 4 penalty corners out of which one was converted into goal by Jaspreet Singh.
Singh Club also got a penalty corner, but they could not convert it into goal and remained dribbling inside the circle instead of having a crack at the goal of opponent MBS Hockey Club.
For his spectacular defensive skills, goalkeeper of MBS Hockey Club Harsimran Singh was adjudged as man of the match and was awarded with cash prize of Rs 500 alongwith a memento.
The match was officiated by Daljeet Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Joginder Singh, Gurmeet Singh and Karanjeet Singh.
Among others present were GS Bakshi, Tournament Director, Jaspreet Singh, Organising Secretary, Rajinder Singh, Sarpanch and Kunwarpreet Singh Sagar.
