JAMMU, July 2: All J&K PDD Employees Union and Daily Wagers Union of PDD, province Jammu have warned the Government to intensify the agitation if the Government failed to address pending issues of the power workers.
In a meeting of the Power workers held here today several trade unionists and senior Union members raised the issue of regularization of PDLs working in various districts. They alleged that many workers are suffering due to biased approach of the higher authorities. They pointed out that Jammu is largest district and hardly 321 such employees were regularized here while merely 60 in district Kathua.
They further alleged that while temporary workers from Udhampur, Doda, Rajouri and Poonch have been regularized up to 2002, whereas, the PDLs of Jammu and Kathua districts have been regularized up to 09/ 1997.
This type of sheer injustice with these workers who have completed more than seven years in service is causing much resentment amongst these employees. There are many posts lying vacant in the PDD and the higher authorities are keeping an attitude of discrimination and total bias. In Kashmir more than 1700 PDLs have been regularized and at present there are no PDLs waiting for regularization as all of them have been cleared.
The Government should regularize all the pending temporary workers otherwise, the Union will be forced to intensify the agitation, they maintained.
