JAMMU, July 4: State Gurdwara Parbandhak Board (SGPB) chairman T S wazir and his team today released manifesto for the District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee elections being held on July 8.
Mr Wazir, accompanied by several other contesting candidates and community leaders released the manifesto before the media at a press conference, depicting various burning issues of the Sikh community. He pointed out that after proper consultations and interactions with the Sikh religious bodies, intellectuals and keeping in mind the aspirations of the community and to effectively counter the conspiracies against Sikh community, this manifesto has been prepared.
While highlighting main points of the manifesto, Wazir said new projects undertaken at various Gurdawars will be accomplished soon and also necessary renovation/ repair will be done effectively. In far-flung area also where the Sikh population is less, the welfare measures will be taken up as per their demand. Salaries of preachers, Granthis, Ragies etc will be given reasonable hike and proper Central Training institute with the cooperation of SGPC Amritsar will be set up for producing model and learned preachers and also refresher courses will be arranged for them.
Wazir said while celebrating Gurpurabs and other historical days, priority will be given to Rehat Maryada and Seva without any biased approach. The new group will also strive for implementation of Nanak Shahi Celender 2003 with the cooperation of all Sikh organizations.
SGPB chief also highlighted educational, political, culture and literary perspectives and bowed to strive for the overall welfare of the community. Reservation to the community in all the spheres will be the top priority of the new Sikh body besides permanent settlement of PoK refugees of 1947, Mr Wazir maintained.
Wazir appealed the community members to vote for Panthak candidates nominated by various Sikh organizations including Shiromani Akali Dal ( Badal), SAD ( Amritsar), Sikh Student Federation, Sikh Welfare Front etc. He said in Jammu district, their candidates are: Mohinder Singh from Akhnoor, Surinder Singh from Marh Gole Gujral, Mohinder Singh (jr) from Rehari, Attar Singh from Gandhinagar, Manmohan Singh from Nanak Nagar, Harjinder Singh Raina from Digiana, Surjit Singh from Gadhigarh, Satpal Singh from Simbal Camp, Jagjit Singh from R S Pura, Kuldip Singh from Kirpind and Paramjit Singh from Bishnah.
