JAMMU, July 7: Indian National Trust for Art and Culture (INTACH) Jammu Chapter in collaboration with Floriculture Department and residents of Block-A Gandhi Nagar celebrated Vanmahotsav by planting saplings all around park No 45, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
KK Sharma, Director Floriculture Department was the chief guest. Others who attended the plantation ceremony were Hemant Kumar Sharma, Director Command Area Development, Dr CM Seth, chairperson WWF-India, Ashok Gupta, Deputy Director Floriculture and members of Gandhi Nagar Welfare Association.
Earlier as part of week-long celebrations of Vanmahotsav, the parks were given face lifting of flower beds, dressing of the lawns, cleaningness of the parks by removing wild growth of vegetation under the close supervision of Satish Koul, District Floriculture Officer and Dr Rabia Khan, Assistant Floriculture Officer, Gandhi Nagar Jammu.
The saplings of Neem, Curry Patta, Moulsari, Sita Ashok, Jiya Potta were planted during the plantation drive.
On the occasion, eminent writer, KK Sharma (Shakir) presented collection of books on the Heritage of Jammu to convener INTACH.
