JAMMU, July 8: Police today arrested a man for allegedly duping a woman of Rs 2.80 lakh on the pretext of sending her son abroad for higher studies following which a number of persons here claimed that they too were cheated by the accused.
According to a complaint lodged by one Veena Sotra of Christian Colony (Jammu), the accused, Malikzada Mohd Shehazad, had lured her and took Rs 2.80 lakhs for sending her son abroad for higher studies, a crime branch spokesperson said.
Shehazad, resident of Dharal Malan in Rajouri, was arrested under section 420, the spokesperson added.
Meanwhile, after registration of the case, more persons approached the Crime Branch, alleging Shehazad had duped them also for providing Government jobs.
