BENGALURU, Jul 9:
Delhi golfers Vani Kapoor and Mehar Atwal played controlled golf in difficult conditions to share the lead after the second round of the 10th leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour here today.
They finished the round with identical scores of 146 to finish ahead of Chandigarh golfer Saaniya Sharma in third place with a total score of 148 at the Eagleton Golf Resort.
Overnight leader Mehar Atwal played an impressive front nine, carding two birdies on the 8th and 9th holes while dropping just one shot on the 6th hole. However, she could not sustain the momentum and carded four bogeys on the 10th, 11th, 15th and 16th holes in her back nine to finish the round with a score of 3 over 75.
Hero Order of Merit leader Vani returned with a card of 2 over 74, best effort by a professional on the day. She played a cautious front nine, carding just two bogeys on the 5th and 7th holes and fired two birdies on the 11th and 18th holes along with an equal number of bogeys on the 10th and 16th holes to share the lead with the defending champion.
Chandigarh golfer Saaniya carded 4 over 76 in the second round to grab the third position. She carded four birdies on the 1st, 5th, 13th and 15th holes, maximum by any golfer on the day. However, four bogeys on the 2nd, 4th, 9th and 18th holes along with two double bogeys on the 3rd and 16th holes marred her score line and she had to be content with a total score of 148 after 36 holes.
Kolkata’s Neha Tripathi and Kapurthala golfer Gursimar Badwal are tied for the fourth spot with identical totals of 149 at the end of the second day.
Amateur Diksha Dagar carded 2 over 74 to match the best score of the day with Vani Kapoor. She is placed sixth with a total score of 150 after 36 holes. Pune’s Shweta Galande and Delhi golfer Ankita Tiwana are in tied seventh position with identical scores of 151. They are followed by Panchkula golfer Amandeep Drall in ninth spot with a total score of 152. (PTI)
