Omar looks forward to PM’s economic package for J&K

SRINAGAR :  Opposition National Conference working president Omar Abdullah today said he was looking forward to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement about economic package to Jammu and Kashmir.
“Good to hear the PM is coming with a One Lakh Crore economic package for J&K. I look forward to seeing how the package is structured,” Omar wrote on micro blogging site Twitter.
The former chief minister of the state said he was expecting a genuine package which would include the balance Rs 40,000 crore of the Rs 44,000 crore relief package sought by the previous government headed by him for rehabilitation of the flood victims.
“We expect PM Modi to come with a genuine package including the remaining 40,000 Cr for flood relief & at least 10-15 lakh jobs for the youth,” he added.
According to reports, it is likely that the Prime Minister will announce a special development plan when he visits the state on July 17.
Omar also lashed out at Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for his silence over absence of BJP ministers from official functions.
“J&K state Ministers (from BJP) boycott an official state function but the silent Mufti couldn’t care less as long as his throne remains in tact,” Omar said.
“Bureaucrats in J&K are shocked at the complete absence of any BJP leaders at Mufti’s Delhi Iftaar party. The phone lines lit up immediately,” he added. (agencies)
