PCC, NC activists pay floral tributes to martyrs of 1931

SRINAGAR, July 13: Pradesh Congress Committee  and the National Conference paid rich tributes to the martyrs of 1931 in two separate functions held today.
Describing martyrs of 1931 as great heroes of the J&K State, who laid their lives against suppression and autocracy,  PCC chief  G A Mir said that sacrifices given by the martyrs for the honour and dignity of the people shall always be remembered. The best way to pay tributes to martyrs is to rise against suppression and fight for the honour and dignity of the society,  PCC chief said.
A delegation of J&K Pradesh Congress led by  JK PCC chief  GA Mir  visited  martyrs’ graveyard at Khawaja Bazar and paid floral tributes to Martyr’s, today.
PCC chief termed martyrs an inspiration for all,   their sacrifices have left a lesson for us that suppression of any nature must be defeated, everyone should rise above to help and work for the development of the State and the people, he said.
Mr Mir while remembering the martyrs reiterated that their  sacrifices shall always remain torch bearer for the people of Jammu and Kashmir State, who faced death to end suppression  and for restoring the dignity and honour of the State and people.
Prominent among those present included former PCC president Peerzada Mohd Syed,   MLA Haji Abdul Rashid Dar,  MLA Usman Majeed, MLA Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Farooq Andrabi , G N Mir Lasjan,  Shoiab Nabi Lone, Hilal Ahmad Shah, SS Channi, Nazir Ahmad Khan, Shameema Iqbal and Raman Matoo.
Meanwhile, glowing tributes were paid to the martyrs of 1931 at a commemorative function held at Banihal with speakers throwing light on essence of the day.  Special prayers were also held on the occasion.
National Conference district president Ramban,  Sajjad Shaheen described the martyrs as torch bearers and conscience keepers who rose against tyranny for transferring power to the people. He said that they gave supreme sacrifices against autocracy and tyranny, adding that the spirit has to be emulated to work for just cause of the people.
Mr Shaheen said that best tribute to martyrs is to strengthen democracy at all the levels and forge unity and amity among the people.
Those present on the occasion included Mirwaiz Atta Mohd Katoch, Ab Hamid Sheikh, Haji Ab Ahad Shan,  Haji Ab Rashid Shah, Mohd Afzal Khan, Haji Ismail Beigh,  Saif Din Dar,  Mohd Afzal Wani and others.
