JAMMU, July 13: The J&K Prisons Retired Employees Welfare Association (PREWA) has reiterated its demand for framing welfare rules for the retired Prison personnel on Police pattern and also review of welfare rules for in-service employees.
In a letter, addressed to the DGP Prisons Department, president of the Association, Krishan Singh has drawn attention towards 12th Central Police Welfare Committee Meeting wherein decision to revise various welfare schemes as per present day needs were taken. Similar kind of mechanism is required in Prison Department to bring parity with Police Department, he said and recalled that DGP Prisons in April this year had proposed to hold broader meeting with retired Prison personnel in District Jail Jammu in the month of May but the same could not be materialized.
Mr Singh also highlighted some demands and grievances of the retired Prison employees, which included release of 6 percent DA installment from January 2015, enhancement of Medical Allowance, payment of balance amount of 6th Pay Commission arrears to pre-2006 retirees, raising pension by 20 percent for above 80 retirees, etc.
