JAMMU, July 14: Outplaying star-studded JKP XI by a big margin of 81 runs in the summit clash, Simula Cricket Club won the coveted trophy of the Monsoon Tri-Series Cricket League, organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police in collaboration with Simula Infra Development and Shastri Cricket Club at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Simula Club scored a fighting total of 162 runs in the stipulated 35 overs. Skipper Hardeep was the top scorer with 34 runs, while Dhruv Mahajan and Atul Sharma contributed 28 runs each. Punnet Kumar and Sameer Khajuria chipped in with 14 and 12 runs respectively. Bandeep Singh and Muzamil took 2 wickets each, while Ramadayal, skipper Rajesh Gill, Shamsher Singh Manhas and Sahil claimed one wicket apiece.
In reply, JKP XI bundled out for a paltry total of 81 runs in 15.5 overs. Ramdayal was the top scorer with 21 runs, while Parveen Singh contributed 18 runs to the total. Nipun Verma and Rajesh Gill chipped in with 11 and 9 runs respectively. For Simula Club, skipper Hardeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers, who bagged 4 important wickets, while Mohit Puri scalped 2 and Vikram and Kuldeep Kumar claimed one  wicket each. Hardeep Singh was declared as man of the match and also man of the series, while Dhruv Mahajan and Mohit Puri bagged best batsman and best bowler awards respectively.
The match was officiated by Suhail Yusuf, Sandeep Manchanda and Vinod, while the proceedings of the programme were conducted by Rajesh Dhar and RP Singh.
IGP Jammu, Danesh Rana was the chief guest on the occasion, while SP City SKS Chauhan and SDPO West Sandeep Choudhary were the guests of honour. SHO Nowabad, Karan Chalotra was also present on the occasion. Former Ranji Trophy cricketer and Chief Prosecuting Officer, Rajesh Gill was the organizing secretary of the League.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said that JKP is committed to promote sports in the State, adding that apart from cricket, the Department is organizing football, hockey events also.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Ashish Sharma, Asif Gill, Anju Gupta and David Mattoo.
