Srinagar, July 15: The Kashmir separatists would take a final call tomorrow on the invitation of Pakistan High Commissioner’s Eid Milan Party scheduled to be held at New Delhi on July 21.
The separatists were miffed at Pakistan after finding no mention of Kashmir in the joint statement issued after the meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharief at Russian city of Ufa.
Apparently angered at the Pakistan, a faction of Hurriyat led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani has already announced the boycott of scheduled Eid Milan party to “protest skipping of Kashmir” at Ufa.
Another faction of Hurriyat led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who is seen as a moderate and pro-dialogue, would hold a meeting of its Executive Council tomorrow morning.
It is, however, unlikely that the Mirwaiz’s faction would skip the Eid Milan party since he had welcomed the meeting of two premiers.
“We are meeting tomorrow and the final decision would be taken there. As far as I am concerned, I would suggest the amalgam to go ahead with the party,” said an Executive Council member of the conglomerate. While another said: “India and Pakistan should come closer and that is something we want. The decision on Eid party would be taken tomorrow and God willing the outcome of the meeting would be good.”
The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), which slammed the remarks of Pakistan premier’s Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz, wherein he had stated that Kashmir issue would be tackled through back-channel diplomacy, is also holding its meet tomorrow to decide whether to attend the HC’s party or not.
