Leh to get integrated housing colony: Dorjey

SRINAGAR, July 16: Minister for Cooperatives Chering Dorjey accompanied by Managing Director J&K Cooperative Housing Cooperation, officers of Cooperative Department, Leh visited various sites in and around Leh to indentify land for establishing a Housing Colony under Cooperative sector.
The Minister said that the concept to set up a colony in Leh has been envisaged to develop the area with modern utilities. The Minister has already discussed with various Ministers and others dignitaries in Government of India for development of an integrated housing colony at Leh.
Earlier, the Minister along with a team of Engineers visited Phyang village to assess the damages caused due to the increase in the water flow due to sudden rise in temperature. Recently in Phyang village some footbridges and head works of some irrigation Khuls were washed away by the water in Phyang Nallah.
The Minister on spot directed the Executive Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control for immediate restoration of the head works of irrigation Khuls. He also directed the concerned engineers to take necessary action for restoration of foot bridges, roads, Khuls etc.
