RAJOURI, July 16: The daily rated/ casual workers of the PWD (R&B) today locked the office of Executive Engineer here and started protest demonstration.
Reports said that these temporary workers who are unpaid for the last few months, today held strong protest demonstration against the higher authorities because they have not been paid their wages for the last several months by the higher authorities. They put a lock on the main gate of R&B local office at around 12 noon and started their protest.
The protesting workers alleged that those temporary workers engaged by senior officers with them and do domestic works for them are paid their wages regularly while all others go unpaid. They said that even on Eid festival, all the workers have not been paid their wages despite assurance by senior officers. In this regard, a representation was also given to the SE Rajouri Circle and XEn Rajouri to release their pending wages before Eid but their plea has gone unheard. They condemned the Government for their exploitation and alleged that senior officers do everything as per their sweet-will while hundreds of workers having meager wages are left unpaid for months together.
