JAMMU, July 17: KPC rejects new rehabilitation package of Rupees 2000 crore for internally displaced Kashmiri Pandits which is being readied by the Home Ministry under which 3,000 government jobs and 6,000 new flats in the Valley would be offered to the displaced community.
KPC while reacting over the so called package said a note is being prepared for the approval of the Union Cabinet for the return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits, who had to leave their homes following rise of militancy in late 1980s, in Kashmir valley.
It said the Home Ministry is also working on a Phase-II plan which involves permanent rehabilitation of Pandits in two-three composite townships of 2,500 families each to be built near Srinagar and Anantnag.
KPC Chief Kundan Kashmiri while strongly re-acting over this proposal, demanded that these 3000 jobs be provided to Kashmiri Pandit youth in Central departments and undertakings, flats be also constructed at Jammu and Delhi-NCR for temporary settlement of homeless displaced KPs till final settlement at the land of Kashyap Bhoomi in Kashmir Valley.
He also demanded that the financial benefits of the package to be provided at present location, steps be taken for abrogation of Article 370 and one place settlement in Kashmir valley after due consultations of Community representatives.
Kashmiri also criticised the centre Govt. for preparing such ill- conceived and un-acceptable rehabilitation packages with out consent and consultation of displaced Kashmiri Pandit community.
He also expressed his dismay over the BJP Government at the Centre for not understanding pains and problems of KP community and its failure to redress their long pending demands. He demanded that a constructive dialogue– between leaders of KP community and political leaders be held to discuss problems and long pending demands of KPs.
