JAMMU, July 21: RS Pura police nabbed a notorious narcotic smuggler along with 25 kilograms of poppy straw ‘bhukki’.
This was stated by SP Headquarters Randheer Singh during a press conference at RS Pura police station this evening.
He stated that RS Pura police developed some inputs regarding supply of narcotics in the area and today laid a naka at Kotli Shah Doula.
“At naka point, police team intercepted a Scorpio bearing registration number DL3CAJ-4056 and subjected it to checking”, SP said, adding that during checking, police recovered 25 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver.
The accused has been identified as Raj Kumar, son of Mohan Lal of Kotli Shah Doula, SP added.
He disclosed that the accused brought the consignment from various parts of the State including Sringar and was to sell to the specific persons by going off-roads.
“We were having inputs about the sale of narcotic substances by the said person for the past few days and he was successfully landed in the trap laid by the RS Pura police today”, SP stated.
A case under FIR Number 108/15 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at RS Pura police station and investigation started.
He added that RS Pura police also recovered a stolen Maruti-800 car bearing registration number JK02J-6207 and also arrested an absconder namely Kuldeep Kumar, son of Thoru Ram of Rakh Jar, who was evading his arrest since 2010 and was wanted in two theft cases.
Apart from this, RS Pura police also arrested four gamblers and booked them under Section 13 Gambling Act on July 15, he said, adding that police also seized an abandoned vehicle bearing registration No JK02G-1777 under Section 550 CrPC.
“Police is working pro-actively on all areas of crime prevention and detention in addition sensitizing the general public and youth in particular in preventing drug abuse in the society and in adhering to the Motor Vehicle Rules”, Mr Singh stated.
Police team led by SHO RS Pura police station Inspector Bhushan Manhas made the arrests under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Harjeet Singh, SP Headquarters Randheer Singh and Incharge SSP Jammu Rajiv Pandey.
