JAMMU, July 22: Nagrota police achieved a major success by arresting inter-state drugs supplier along with 420 grams brown sugar valuing Rs 30 lakh in the international market.
As per police sources, an information was generated by SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma regarding sale of drugs in Sidhra, Ragoora, Khanpur and adjoining areas after being smuggled from Punjab.
Keeping hawks eye over sale of drugs, police team led by SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma and accompanied by SHO Nagrota Inspector Dileep Singh and Incharge police post Sidhra SI Noor Ahmed under the supervision of Incharge SSP Jammu Rajiv Pandey conducted raid in a house at Thathar Majeen and arrested a inter-state narcotic smuggler along with 420 grams brown sugar valuing Rs 30 lakh in the international market.
The narcotic smuggler has been identified as Shakeeb Ahmed, son of Mohammad Iqbal of Khairi, district Udhampur.
The accused brings the consignment of drugs from Punjab and sale it among the youth of Sidhra, Ragoora, Khanpur and adjoining areas to make them drug addicts.
A case under FIR Number 148/15 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Nagrota police station and investigation started.
When contacted, SDPO Nagrota, Bharat Bhushan Sharma, said that “We were having inputs about the sale of narcotic substances by the said person in Sidhra, Ragoora, Khanpur and adjoining areas. A trap was laid in which the accused landed successfully today”.
He added that with the arrest of this inter-state drugs supplier, police has achieved a major success of curbing the supply of drugs in the areas of Nagrota.
