Don’t pay MPs, if Parliament doesn’t function: Omar

SRINAGAR :  Expressing disappointment over the non-functioning of Parliament for the third consecutive day, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that no salaries and allowances should be paid to MPs and MLAs,  if the Houses don’t have at least two hours of regular business in a day.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter to reiterate his stand on the issue, Mr Abdullah, who is also the working president of National Conference (NC)  said,  If  Parliament/Assembly don’t have Question Hour & at least two hours of regular business, no salary & allowances should be paid for that day.
The stalemate in Parliament continued for the third day today over a string of scams allegedly involving three senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ? External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje in former IPL chief Lalit Modi controversy and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Vyapam scam.
The opposition led by Congress have been demanding that these three leaders of the BJP should step down.  The opposition has also up the ante on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his silence over the alleged involvement of his top three colleagues in these scams. (AGENCIES)
