Ample supply hurts chana futures, shed 0.70%

NEW DELHI, July 24:  Chana prices were down 0.70 per cent to Rs 4,560 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators engaged in offloading positions, triggered by higher supplies from producing belts at the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chana for delivery in August fell Rs 32, or 0.70 per cent to Rs 4,560 per quintal with an open interest of 1,39,430 lots.
Similarly, the commodity for delivery in September contracts moved down by Rs 31, or 0.67 per cent to Rs 4,626 per quintal in 77,930 lots.
Analysts said trimming of positions by speculators, amid higher supplies from producing belts in the physical market kept pressure on chana prices in futures trade. (PTI)
