JAMMU, July 26: Reiterating that AIIMS Coordination Committee will take its ongoing struggle to the logical conclusion and will not rest till a full fledged AIIMS is established in Jammu region, it warned the Government not to take the people of Jammu region for granted.
Addressing the members of Coordination Committee and civil society members supporting the ongoing agitation, at the venue of chain hunger strike here, today Chairman AIIMS CC and president JKHBCA, Jammu, Abhinav Sharma, said people of Jammu know how to fight for their rights and no political party can take them for a ride.
He while making a strong dig at the BJP, said the Party which was supported to the hilt by the people of Jammu region in the Assembly elections is committing a political suicide by betraying its own Constituency.
The BJP is conducting itself like the Congress conducted in 1975 by bringing down its own Government in the State and handing over the State power to votary of plebiscite/greater autonomy, National Conference, and the result is that the Congress today is no more than a marginal outfit even in Kashmir, said Abhinav Sharma, adding that it is time for BJP to review its old stand it has taken to form coalition Government with the PDP so that it didn’t meet similar fate.
Addressing the gathering senior advocate and former JKHCBA, Jammu, Bhupinder Singh Slathia, said that the authorities are testing the patience of the people of Jammu region but they should remember that they are dealing with the people of Jammu region who cannot be cowed down. He further said that the people of Jammu got their demands fulfilled in the past by taking course to agitational methods and they will force the biased authorities to set up the AIIMS in Jammu.
He said people of Jammu cannot be deprived of their legitimate due share in the governance of the State and such nation building departments as All India Institute of Medical Sciences.
Those who sat on chain hunger strike today included former JKHCBA, Jammu Presidents, and Senior advocate Bhupinder Singh Slathia, Sardar Daljeet Singh Saini, advocates Chander Mohan Sharma, Pawan Kumar Manni, Ravinder Raina, Mino Koul, Vikram Sharma, Sardar Baldev Singh, Sudershan Sharma, Ravinder Sharma, Sarfraz Hamid Rather, Zameel Qazmi, Sardar Sandeep Singh, B K Bhat, Rajesh Singh Lalotra, Vinod Saini, Naresh Sharma, Manish Chopra, Sourav Vyas, Rahul Sharma, Siddarth Sharma, Vijay Kumar Gupta, Deepak Basak, Parshotam Raj Sharma, Ajay Singh Sahi, Ajay Sharma, Jai Kumar Bhat, Shiekh Aleem, Anju Sharma, Rozina Afzal, Deep Sharma, Suhasani Vashisht, Meenakshi Slathia, Shazia Bano, Aswhini Kumar, Bhanu Bhat, Pranav Kohli, vice-president JKHBA, Jammu, Rajesh Kumar, G S Gill, Puneet Kohli, Rohit Kohli, Intekhab Shah, Aftab Malik, Farhan Mirza, Arun Dev Singh, Vikas Mahajan and V K Sharma.
