JAMMU, July 26: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today urged upon the State Finance Minister (FM) to immediately allot separate wage Head for each department for regular disbursement of wages of 60, 000 daily wagers working in the various departments of the State Government.
Addressing a meeting of NMC activists here, Subhash Shastri, NMC president, pointed out that these daily wagers have not been disbursed their wages for the last four or five years causing lot of hardships to them. He said that it is strange that neither these daily wagers were regularized by the previous regime nor paid their legitimate wages for years together.
While appreciating the pro-working class approach of Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed and Finance Minister Hasseb Drabu, Shastri hoped that the long pending demand of these daily wagers for their regularization in the State Government departments will be met.
He appealed that in the meantime Government should create separate Head particularly for PWD, PHE, PDD, and other departments of the State Government so that the poor daily wagers may be paid regularly under these wage Head.
