JAMMU, July 27: Four players from Jammu and Kashmir, with two men and two women, represented the Country in the Asian Powerlifting Championship held at Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Hong Kong from July 21 to 26, 2015
Rakesh Kumar (59 kg category) and Rajan Jain (93 kg category) represented in men’s category, while in women’s category, Surmeet Kour Soni (47 kg category) and Megha Jain (63 kg category) were the representatives from the State.
J&K Sports Powerlifting Association was selected for Asian Powerlifting Championship under the banner of Indian Powerlifting Federation and scored fourth ranking each in the heaviest competition of Asian Powerlifting Championship and got successful participation.
The team was received at Jammu Airport in presence of the Organising Secretary of Indian Powerlifting Federation, Subrata Dutta (Arjuna awardee).
