JAMMU, Aug 18: Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof Mohan Pal Singh Ishar inaugurated a two day national conference on Algebra, Analysis and their Application, organized by PG Department of Mathematics, Government MAM College, here today
Director Colleges, Higher Education Department, Prof Nalini Kohli, was the guest of honour on the occasion.
In his inaugural address, Prof Ishar said that the conference will provide a forum to the active researchers and scholars to exchange innovative ideas and information about latest developments in the field and give an insight in new discoveries in mathematical techniques.
Prof Nalini Kohli lauded the organizers for taking the initiative of organizing such informative programme, while Principal of the College, Prof Romesh Chander in his welcome address said that the main objective of the conference is to discuss the challenging issues and applications of Algebra and Analysis.
He said Algebra and Analysis play an important role in Computer Science, Technology, Industry, Decisional Theory, Biological, Physical and Chemical Sciences.
Academicians and Scholars from across the country, University of Jammu, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, BGSB University, Teachers from different government and private colleges are attending the conference.
Earlier, Prof TM Karade of Nagpur University delivered the keynote address, while Prof BS Komal acted as observer during the conference.
The other dignitaries who deliberated on the topic included Prof DD Somashekara, University of Mysore, Prof JN Sharma, NIT, Hamirpur in Shimla, Prof SB Singh from Punjabi University Patiala, Dr PK Sharma, Associate Prof DAV College Jallandhar, Dr SK Yadav, Moti Lal Nehru College Delhi, Dr Satish Verma, SGTB Khalsa College Delhi, Dr KS Charak, University of Jammu, Prof Dilip Singh Jamwal, Head of Department of Mathematics, University of Jammu, Prof DK Gupta, Prof Basant Ram, Prof Ashok Koul, Prof Bhupinder Singh, Prof KR Sahni and Prof Jai Kumar Sharma, University of Jammu.
Earlier, the programme began with the lighting of traditional lamp, followed by Saraswati Vandana performed by the students of PG Department of Mathematics.
Prof Kailash Mehra, Head of Department of Music presented a gazal which enthralled the entire audience on the occasion, while vote of thanks was presented by Dr Chandershekhar, organising secretary of the event.
