JAMMU, July 29: Rashtriya Rifle Battalion under Romeo Force is conducting a motorcycle expedition “Sair-e-Milaap” from Poonch to Zojila Pass and back via Srinagar, Anantnag, Udhampur and Akhnoor for the youth from Poonch district from July 29, 2015 onwards. The expedition was planned with the aim of inculcating the spirit of adventure amongst the youth of the area and also to promote interaction with their counterparts in the Valley and areas around. The expedition will also promote harmony and friendship between the Indian Army and the locals in the area of Poonch district.
The ‘Sair-e-Milaap’ was flagged off by Sector Commander Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, today from Jhullas ground. The motorcycle expedition will cross the treacherous Pir Panjal ranges via road to reach Srinagar valley and further pass through the lush green pastures of Sonamarg before it reaches the Zojila Pass. The team is fully geared to traverse the inhospitable terrain & weather conditions. ‘Sair-e-Milaap’ expedition will then return to Srinagar and move on to Udhampur to finally culminate at Palma (Rajouri) covering a distance of approximately 1100 kms over the duration of nine days.
The expedition comprises of one officer and 13 other motorcyclists including seven civilian youth from Poonch District. During the expedition, the team will meet prominent civil and military dignitaries, which includes interaction with the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.
