Yuki Bhambri dispatched Croatia’s Matija Ecotic in straight sets to advance to the second round but Ramkumar Ramanathan was ousted from the USD 50,000 ATP Challenger event, here.
Coming back to complete yesterday’s unfinished business, Yuki was dominant on day two of his rain-hit match as he conceded only two games. He was 4-4 when the match began and he ran away with a 7-5 6-1 win in the opening round.
Yuki and Ramkumar could have clashed in the second round but for brilliance of Briton Brydan Klein, who defeated the latter 6-3 6-3 in the other first round match.
Yuki now remains the sole Indian in the singles event as Saketh Myneni has also already exited following a 2-6 1-6 defeat against seventh seed Briton Liam Broady. (PTI)
