POONCH, July 30:   The people from Degwar, Gulpur, Khari and Ajot villages  today came out on Poonch-Rawalakote road and stopped the movement of trucks carrying goods to PoK via Chakkan-Da-Bagh LoC point.
The villagers raised barricades at around 9 am today near Betar bridge and sat on protest dharna. They were shouting slogans against District Administration Poonch and local Irrigation and Flood Control authorities. With the protest dharna of the people, the movement of trucks carrying goods to PoK came to halt.
These agitating villagers, alleged that due to recent rains and floods, a local bridge washed away and Betar river  caused extensive damage to their standing crops and also caused soil erosion. With this, their fields have been washed away and still facing more damage but Flood Control authorities have failed to ensure any protection work to save their land. Moreover, due to washing away of a foot bridge the people are facing lot of hardships.
Later, the Assistant Commissioner, Poonch and Additional SP reached the spot and assured the agitating villagers to take up the matter with the concerned FC authorities. The people then lifted dharna at around 11 am and restored traffic on this road.
