Srinagar, July 30: In wake of two grenade attacks, a bomb hoax in south Kashmir’s Anantnag Town created panic among residents this morning.
The locals spotted an unclaimed lunch box fitted with a wire at Achabal Adda near Ganjiwara area of the main town at 10 am. Police were informed and they reached on the spot.
The police summoned the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and the whole area was cordoned off with the movement of people coming to halt. However, the BDS could not find any bomb inside the box and instead the rice was found in it.
Subsequently, the traffic and civilian movement was restored in the area and the situation returned to normal. It must be mentioned here that Achabal Adda is the same place where a grenade attack was carried by militants last week in which an ice cream vendor was killed and few others were injured. Another grenade attack in the Town took place yesterday resulting in injuries to four civilians and four CRPF men.
The residents of Anantnag said that the rumors are running high these days in the Town about militant attacks. They said that these rumors are creating panic and fear among local populace.
