JAMMU, July 30: Pakistan army resorted to heavy mortar shelling and firing targeting about half a dozen forward Army posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Krishna Ghati and Shahpur sectors of Poonch district this evening. Indian side responded effectively.
Official sources said Pakistan army violated ceasefire by resorting to heavy firing followed by mortar shelling targeting half a dozen forward posts in Krishna Ghati sector at 6.15 pm today. The Indian side immediately retaliated, leading to heavy exchanges.
There were no reports of any casualties or damage on the Indian side in Pakistan army firing, which stopped at 9.45 pm.
Later, Pakistan army also started firing in Shahpur tonight, prompting retaliations from the troops from this side.
Pakistan firing was completely unprovoked, sources said, adding effective retaliation by the Indian side silenced the Pakistani guns.
