BSF tops medal tally as All India Police Water Sports C’ship concludes

Srinagar July 31: The All India Police water Sports Championship concluded here today with Border Security Force (BSF) getting 30 medals while the athletes of Jammu and Kashmir won 24 medals including.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police organized the water sports championship for the third time in the state.
A police spokesman said that the 17 teams of different central and state police organizations from across the country including BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, Andra Pradesh, Haryana, J&K, Madhya Pradesh, Maharasthtra, Manipur, Orissa, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Uttrakhand and Uttar Pradesh participated in the event. “Over 450 athletes from the entire country have proved their mettle in the mega event in Canoeing, kayaking and Rowing,” he said.
In the event, he said, BSP topped the medal tally by getting 30 medals including 10 Gold, 12 sliver and 08 Bronze medals. “CRPF achieved second position by winning 26 medals including 14 gold medals. Athletes from Jammu and Kashmir secured their place on third position by getting 24 medals including 08 gold medals. ITBP placed their teams on third position by getting 16 medals and SSB on 4th and the athletes of Uthrakand on 5th place with 6 medals to each team,” the spokesman said.
The spokesman added that these programmes are being organized to provide platform for local youth to prove the talent of the State so that in future they come up as players of national and international reputes.
