Srinagar, July 31: The old building of District Hospital Baramulla was completely gutted in a fire incident that broke out today afternoon, police said here.
The fire broke out at around 3:30 pm and it engulfed whole building. Even as the police and fire tenders rushed to the spot, but it took several hours for them to douse the blaze.
Station House Officer, Baramulla, Ayaz Geelani, said that there was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the inferno and all the patients are safe.
He said that the cause of fire is being ascertained. “So, far it is not known what led to the fire but we are ascertaining the cause behind the blaze,” he said.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Baramulla, Dr Bashir Ahmad, said that the inferno occurred from the second storey of the building. “The floor of the building is made up of wood and that is why it caught the fire within no time. There was no patient inside as it is the abandoned building now,” he said.
