SRINAGAR, Aug 2: Member of Legislative Council, Dr Shehnaz Ganai, today left for United States to attend the International Visitors Leadership Programme.
The month long programme has been organised by the State Department, United States of America with a view to briefly explain the functions of state and local governments in the US and their interactions with the Federal Government.
During the visit, Dr Ganai will meet with student organizations, political party officials, state-level politicians, NGOs and volunteer organizations to discuss a variety of American perspectives on critical social and political issues. She will also have interactions with organizations involved in community-based dispute resolution initiatives.
Dr Ganai will also visit/interact with local businesses in order to gain a better understanding of a free market economy and the role small businesses play in a community. She is also scheduled to study the disaster management initiatives in the US.
During her visit to US, Dr Ganai will be visiting New York, New Orleans, Louisiana, Seattle, Washington, Cleveland, Ohio, Jackson, Wyoming and Cleveland.
