Sir,
Presently , BOPEE has been conducting counseling both for Medical as well as Engineering streams simultaneously in J & K. Though counseling is done according to the rank of the students and the govt. has already bifurcated Medical and Engineering streams category wise on the website but, during the counseling process , the students of reserved category i.e. SC,ST, ALC, RBA , JKPS etc. are allotted seats in Open Merit which is a grave injustice for the students of General Category. This way the students of reserved category make way for those students of reserved category who are unable to find seats in Govt. Medical and Engineering colleges whereas the seats occupied by the reserved categories in Open Merit the students of general category and reduce the number of general seats thereby reducing the chances of the open merit students to take admissions in the Govt. run colleges. This is how the general category is deprived of its rights in the general courses as well as in govt. jobs.Is it a matter of pride or shame for the Governments of the States and the Centre who profess to give equal rights to all categories. Govt. is requested not to fill the seats of OM by the reserved ones. If they do so , then the seats left vacant by the reserved category students should be allotted to the OM candidates and vice-versa. Only then a balance can be maintained. A grave injustice is being done to the general category students for the past so many years by the successive Governments for reasons best known to them which is a cruel joke on the part of the Govt. and BOPEE. The state govt. should reconsider their decision while allotting seats in professional colleges and general courses in future so that general category students must not be deprived of their legitimate rights.
Yours etc….
