RKJ organizes Literary, Cultural event at Basohli

Basohli, Aug 7:  Continuing with efforts to take radio to the very doorsteps of its listeners, Radio Kashmir Jammu today organised a Poetic Symposium and a music concert at the historic and world famous town of Basohli.
With this event RKJ also started its series of programmes in connection with the Independence Day. The event generated a great buzz in the town and was attended by a huge gathering at the Basohli Kala Kendra.
The station Director Radio Kashmir Jammu , V K Sambyal, while welcoming the audience stressed upon the role of Radio even the rapidly changing scenario of today , he appreciated the people of Basohli for their love for radio that reflected in the form of huge gathering for the over two hours long programme.
In the inaugural session about 14 poets from Jammu region that included six local poets of Basohli, four from Kathua and three from Jammu kept the audience spellbound. The poems were full of themes like Patriotism, Beti Padhao Beti Bachao, Corruption, Female foeticide, Heritage and other social evils. Prominent poets who participated in the symposium included Suresh Kumar Shastri, Shiv Dobalia, Bhushan Shastri, Neelam Sapolia, Devender premi and Dharam Singh from Basohli, T.R.Sumbaria, Vijay Sharma, Saroj Bala and Khajoor Singh from Kathua and Rattan Basotra, Susheel Begana and Inderjeet Kesar from Jammu.
Mitra Basohli deya, a song written by the famous local poet Kishen Smailpuri and equally well sung by Aun Channa touched a chord. The spirit of patriotism was overflowing when Rang Rangeela Chail Chabeela Mera Bharat Desh was presented to the ever swelling crowd. Established singers like Virendra Kapadia,  Jitendra Kour, Anita Sharma, Upma Sharma and Nidhi Kaila enthralled the crowd with their magical voices and the people of Basohli are going to remember these performances for a lime time to come. The singers were ably supported by a professional orchestra team that included Purshotam Kumar on Tabla, Rakes Kona on Dholak and Mayank Raina on Flute.
The team of Radio Kashmir Jammu that organized the event included Programme Executives, Anjana Badyal, Nitish Arora, Rajesh Gupta, Sanjeev Sharma and Manoj Bakshi. Co-Ordinators Ravi Magotra and C.L Sharma also accompanied the team.
