Dr Sanjogita honoured by IABF for exemplary work in London Olympics

JAMMU, Aug 19: Eminent Sports Medicine Specialist of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Sanjogita Soodan, who was one of the Doctors of Indian Olympic Contingent 2012, has been appreciated by Indian Amateur Boxing Federation (IABF) for her exemplary work during the Games.
In a letter, addressed to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Brig PK Muralidharan Raja, Chef de Mission, Indian Contingent to London Olympics and Secretary General Indian Amateur Boxing Federation (IABF) has said “It is my proud privilege to bring to your notice that Dr Sanjogita Soodan, who is a Sports Medicine Specialist Doctor working as Assistant Surgeon at Government Accidental Hospital, Vijaypur, Jammu, performed her duties as the Doctor of Indian Contingent to a perfection rather in an exemplary manner at the Olympic Games 2012”.
The appreciation letter further said that Dr Sanjogita Soodan along with Dr Sarala Rao from Sports Authority of India (SAI), worked tirelessly round the clock to ensure that all male and female athletes representing India at the Olympics were provided with specialized Sports Medicine cover, so as to enable them to perform to their optimum potential and win medals for the country.
“Dr Sanjogita provided medical support that helped ace boxer Mary Kom to win bronze for India. She also provided specialized Sports Medicine cover to athletes who represented India in Archery, Judo, Weight Lifting, Wrestling and Shooting. The athletes and coaches of these disciplines acknowledged and appreciated the expertise and professionalism shown by Dr Sanjogita in treating them and helping them in recovering from minor ailments and muscle relaxation techniques”, the letter further added.
Meanwhile, the IABF apart from thanking Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for making her available with Indian Boxing team, has urged the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to utilize her vast experience and practical knowledge in the field of Sports Medicine as also in general conditioning including exercise Physiology as she has been Indian Contingent Doctor at important events like Indoor Asian Games Macau in 2005, Asian Games Guangzhou in 2010 and London Olympic Games 2012.
