JAMMU, Aug 10: University of Jammu today paid rich tribute to former President and Bharat Ratna Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, who passed away last month.
On the occasion, a documentary titled as “Meri Kahani” was also screened at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium. The programme started with the recitation of poem “I can fly” by the students of Presentation Convent.
While paying tributes to Dr Kalam, the Vice-Chancellor Prof R D Sharma stressed that qualities of hard work, sincerity and humanity made the former President a hero and legend among people of the country.
JU Registrar Prof Keshav Sharma threw light on life and achievements of Dr Kalam, who rose to the position of President of India by his sheer hardwork and sincerity.
Dean Students Welfare, Prof Pankaj Srivastava also spoke on the occasion.
On the occasion, various students from different schools were also invited to be a part of the programme. A few of them, who had the honour of receiving awards from Dr Kalam, were asked to share their experience.
They included Bhavya Padha, student of Govt College for Women Gandhinagar, Parul Uppal, a student of 12th class form Presentation Convent Sr Secondary School, Arushima Pankaj, a student of 10th class from Presentation Convent Sr Secondary School and Prerak Bisht from Jodhamal Public School.
Prof G.M Bhat read out the condolence message following which a two-minute silence was observed for peace to the departed soul.
