Lowest number of pilgrims leave for holy cave from Jammu

JAMMU, Aug 11: On the 41st day of the ongoing Swami Amarnath Yatra 1148 pilgrims paid obeisance to naturally formed Ice Lingam in holy cave. With this the total number of pilgrims paying obeisance in cave shrine since the Yatra started from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas here touched 3,43,131.
According to an official spokesman 598 pilgrims left from Baltal base camp to holy cave. Among them 260 left by foot while 338 left by chopper. He said 150 pilgrims left from Nunwan -Pahalgam Base Camp to holy cave via traditional Chandanwari track.
He said the pilgrims having night haltage at Chandanwari, Sheshnag and Panchtarni also left for holy cave early this morning.
The spokesman said 411 pilgrims returned from holy cave by chopper to Baltal. He said weather on both tracks was dry today.
Meanwhile 47 pilgrims left from Bhagwati Nagar yatri Niwas for holy cave in a single bus here today under tight security arrangements. This is the lowest number of pilgrims leaving for cave shrine since the first batch of yatra left from here on July 1.
