JAMMU, Aug 11: Semifinals position has been cleared with DPS, RRL, BSF and SRML making it to the last four stages in the Under-19 Boys Inter-School Tennis Ball Cricket Championship as part of the mega District Level Tournament in the discipline of Tennis Ball Cricket, Taekwondo, Badminton and Handball Under-19 Boys, which got underway at Green Field Gandhi Nagar, Indoor Hall M.A Stadium Jammu and Dogra Ground Shastri Nagar, here today.
The tournament is being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under the supervision of Madan Lal, Joint Director and Sukhdev Raj Sharma, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu.
Earlier, Madan Lal declared the competitions open in an impressive and well attended function at M.A Stadium Jammu.
In all, 97 boys in Tennis Ball Cricket, 30 boys in Badminton and Taekwondo and 84 boys in Handball are taking part in the competitions.
In Tennis Ball Cricket, DPS defeated Centre Basic HSS by 8 runs, RRL High School drubbed Model Academy by 13 runs, BSF Paloura trounced Lawrence Public School by 7 wickets and SRML HSS beat St. Peter Jammu by 39 runs.
The matches were officiated by BK Tickoo, Pankaj Sasun, Mohd. Farooq, Mukesh Sharma and Jagtar Singh.
In Taekwondo, -46 kg. 50 kg, 54 kg, 62 kg, 66 kg, 70 kg and above 70 kg, the gold medals were bagged by Aman Gupta of SRML, Rahul of SRML HSS, Ankit of SRML HSS, Gourav of APS Domana, Sanket Sharma of DBN School, Gokul Sharma of Model Academy and Pranav of MIER respectively
The bouts were officiated by Atul Pagotra, Varinder Sharma and Taruna Khajuria
In Badminton final, Model Academy beat APS Nagrota by 2-0 sets. In singles, Raghav beat Tanvir Singh by 21-16, 10-21 and 21-10, while in doubles, Raghav and Parthpal got better of Tanvir and Bhanu by 21-12 and 21-12
The matches were officiated by Harcharan Singh, Kiran Jyoti, Saroman Dogra, Sanjay Khajuria and Vikram Jamwal.
In Handball, KC Gurukul beat Guru Harkrishan Public School by 10-1, while HSS Bahu Fort trounced Hari Singh HSS by 9-1.
The matches were officiated by Om Parkash, Ajay Sharma, Chander Shekhar, Mousmi, Sanjay Jamwal and Ravinder Singh.
