KOLKATA, Aug 12: J&K Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh today said a new chapter has begun in the State after the PDP-BJP Government came into power.
“Our alliance is not a political one or an ideological one, but that of governance… A new chapter has now begun in Jammu and Kashmir,” Singh said at a book release event here.
He said the atmosphere created by separatist forces and terrorists in the State was now changing.
“Some infiltrators had come during the Amarnath Yatra, but none of them could succeed,” he said adding, there was a new environment in the State now.
Lauding the role of late freedom fighter Dr Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, he said his contribution to Kashmir was the turning point in the history of the State.
Meanwhile, A Book named “Pledge for An Integrated India (Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookerjee in throes of Jammu and Kashmir, 1951-53) written by Devesh Khandelwal was released here today by Rashtriya SwayamSevak Sangh Sar Karyavah, Bhaiyya ji Joshi, chief guest, in the presence of Amit Shah national president, BJP and Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh who was guest of honour on the occasion.
Amit Shah, in his keynote address, described Bharatiya Jan Sangh founder Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, as doyen of Indian nationalism. He said that Dr Mookerjee sacrificed his life for the integrity of the Indian nation and BJP is committed to his ideals.
Dr Nirmal Singh later visited the residence of Dr. Mookerjee and paid his tributes to the legendary leader.
It is worthwhile to mention here that Shyama Prasad Mookerjee led an agitation to abolish the ‘permit system’ for entry into J&K State in 1953 and sacrificed his life during the agitation. This led to the abolition of ‘permit system’.
