SOPORE, Aug 14: Trouncing Peer Khan Abad Cricket Club convincingly in the summit clash, Sagipora XI lifted the title trophy of the Zalurah Cricket League at Government High School Sagipora ground, near here.
The event was organized by Rashtriya Rifles as part of Army’s endeavour to encourage cricketing talent by collaborating with the local youth from July 29 to August 13, 2015.
16 teams drawn from Zalurah and surrounding villages participated in this fortnight long event.
The organizers said that the aim of organizing such events was to encourage the hidden talent of youth and channelize their energies in positive direction and help them not to derail from the mainstream, besides providing them opportunity to showcase their talent.
Over 200 players participated in the event and exhibited their skill.
Apart from the winners and runners-up trophies presented to the teams, special prizes including player of the tournament, best fielder, best batsman and best bowler awards were presented to Shakir Nazir, Asif, Mir Mohsin and Juner respectively.
CO 27 RR, Coy Cdr Zalurah and Sarpanches and Panches witnessed the match amidst huge crowd.
The locals appreciated the efforts of the Army in organizing this mega event.
