JAMMU, Aug 16: The Department of Cardiology organized Heart Care Camp at Bal Niketan Ambphalla, here in which more than 125 children were examined.
Camp was organized under the supervision of Dr Sushil K.Sharma, Head Department of Cardiology, GMCH along with Dr Dhaneshwar Kapoor, Dr Mohi Kalsotra, Dr Achint Singh and para medicals including Davinder Sharma, Sanjay Sharma, Kashmiri Lal and Kamal Sharma and volunteers comprising Gourav Sharma, Vikas Kumar, Mohan Krishan, Lokesh Kumar, Balwan Rathore and Bunty Digra.
Patient in Paediatrics and adolescent age groups were examined and relevant investigations were done. Free medicines were also given to the needy patients.
Dr Sushil K. Sharma Highlighted the prevalence of various diseases in this age group and elaborated the need of maintaining hygiene, proper nutrition and need for surveillance for both rheumatic and congenital heart disease in this subset of patient.
He emphasized that children are our common heritage and it is our sacred duty to guard them against diseases and aware them to stay away from the addictions like smoking & chewing betelnuts etc, which have harmful effects on their overall growth.
The office bearers of Bal Niketan Dr Goutam Mengi, Bal Krishan Gupta, Sudesh Pal and Satish Mittal hoped for similar kind of co-operation in near future.
