One killed, two injured in road mishaps

JAMMU, Aug 18: An unknown lady was killed in a road accident while two others were injured in separate road accidents in city and its outskirts.
According to a police spokesperson, an unidentified woman of age about 60-65 years was hit by a bike bearing registration number PB35K-1236 near Sidhra bridge, this afternoon. In serious condition, the woman was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where she succumbed to her injuries at about 5.30 pm.
The body of the deceased lady was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for identification and post mortem. A case in this connection has been registered at concerned police station and the bike involved in the accident seized. However, the bike rider identified as Raghun Padha son of Chuni Lal Padha of Ward No 13, Kathua, who is reportedly a JEE in National Highway Authority of India, managed to escape from the spot.
In another accident at Bajalta area of city outskirts, a 20-year-old girl identified as Mridu Khanna (20) daughter of Sanjeev Khanna, a resident of Rehari Colony, was seriously injured when the Wagon-R car bearing registration No JK02BA-5507 she was travelling in along with some of her friends, collided with a tipper bearing registration number JK02G-4781.
On getting information, a police team headed by Incharge, police post Sidhra, SI Noor Mohd under the supervision of SHO Nagrota, Daleep Singh and overall supervision of SDPO Nagrota, Bharat Bhushan, reached the spot and shifted the injured girl to nearby Batra hospital.
A case in this connection has been registered at concerned police station and both the vehicles involved in the accident seized but the drivers of both the vehicles managed to flee from the spot.
A pedestrian was also injured in Gandhi Nagar near Green Belt Park when an unknown car hit him. The injured identified as Vijay Kumar (22) son of Charan Dass, a resident of Udhampur, was rushed to Government hospital, Gandhi Nagar, but later referred to GMCH for specialized treatment.
The concerned police has taken cognizance of the matter.
