MATHURA : Pakistan should not cross the ‘Laxman Rekha’ as it would be disastrous for that country, former Army Chief Gen JJ Singh (Retd) today said.
He also said that only talks can resolve any differences.
“We are giving Pakistan a befitting reply. Their men are also been killed. However, it is not in the interest of any country,” Singh said when asked about his opinion on how to counter the proxy war initiated by Pakistan.
“Differences can be sorted out by interaction. However, if it would try to cross ‘Laxman Rekha’ (limit), the consequences for Pakistan would be disastrous,” he stated.
India cannot rely on Pakistan as its policy against India is dictated by military dictators of of that nation, he said.
“Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and access of Pakistan on some of its part cannot be accepted by us,” he said.
Asked about why there was no technological setup on the border areas to resolve the proxy war, he said, “To install anything related to computer, etc on the frontiers is very difficult owing to prevailing tough geographical conditions on forward areas.”
“We have faith in the legal validity of McMahon line. Even the Britishers has accepted sovereignty of Tibet. China knows it well that trade of 100 billion would be affected and therefore it is also scared of India. In trade with China, only China is not getting benefit as in spite of Cheap articles coming from China, their durability is less while Indian export items, though are little costly but their durability is unquestionable,” Singh said.
