SRINAGAR, Aug 19: Scores of telecom subscribers of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district have decried poor 3G internet services in the area.
The subscribers of all the five telecommunication companies operating in the district said they are not availing the 3G internet services despite paying for the same.
“The services in the district started to worsen after telecommunication companies suspended their operations 3 months ago as a result of militant attacks in Sopore. Though the situation is better now but the services are poor. Besides 3G, sometimes we are unable to connect to internet on 2G mode,” the subscribers of the district said.
The areas where 3G internet is not working include Kanispora, Baramulla Town, Sopore Town, Kanil Bagh and Baba Reshi Road, the subscribers said.
The professionals including scribes are most affected due to the poor 3G internet services as they are entirely dependent on internet. “I have to move from one place to another in search of better connectivity so that I can send my assignment. This is a routine now. We are facing lot of problems and it can cost our jobs as well,” a scribe based in Baramulla Town, who is working with a national television, said.
A businessman of Sopore said that he has sim cards of all the five telecommunications companies operating in the region. “But, all of them have poor 3G internet services,” he said, adding: “I did approach telecom officials but none of them took any step to improve the services.”
The subscribers have appealed concerned officials to improve the services for the convenience of people. “They should understand that they are bound to provide us hassle free services because we pay them for it,” the subscribers added.
