SRINAGAR: Aug 19: In furtherance of its mandate for promotion of art and culture, the J&K Academy of Art, Cutlure and Languages today held an on-the-spot painting competition among the high and higher secondary school students of Srinagar city at its Lal Mandi lawns. Minister of State for Education and Culture, Priya Sethi was the visiting dignitary at the painting competition.
Speaking on the occasion Mrs Sethi said that she was delighted to have visited the art contest. Impressing upon the Academy to keep on holding such events, the Minister promised liberal help for such initiatives.
Talking on the sidelines of the event Secretary Academy, Dr. Aziz Hajini said that he was impressed to see the response of local schools to the competition and assured that such events would be a regular part of Academy’s activity calendar.
Eighteen high and higher secondary school students from prominent institutions like Delhi Public School Srinagar, Delhi Public School Budgam, Lawrence Vidya Bhawan, Linton Hall School, Srinagar, Model High School, Raj Bagh, Tyndale Biscoe School, Mallinson society, Srinagar British, Presentation Convent Higher Secondary School, Government Higher Secondary School Jawahar Nagar, Green Valley Educational Institute Elahi Bagh, Buchpora, and Kashmir Valley School Humhama were among others who participated in the competition.
In infant group Gayoor Fatima of Classic Public School Ahmedpora bagged the 1st place, while the 2nd and 3rd places went to Talal Iqbal Lone of Kashmir Valley School and Arshay Aijaz of Green Valley Educational Institute respectively.
On the other hand, the 4th and 5th places went to Taria Yasir, and Kashif of Simon Rose Garden School respectively.
In junior group Andleep Bilal of DPS Srinagar bagged the 1st place, while the 2nd place went to Snow Preet Kour of Presentation Convent while Sania Rasool of Classic Public School Ahmadpora bagged the first consolation prize. 2nd and 3rd consolation prizes went to Wafia of ISPS School and Amit of Innocent Hearts School Srinagar.
Certificates of merit went to Rutba Aijaz Makhdoomi of Green Valley Educational Institute and Nousheen Aslam of Model High School Srinagar.
In senior group first and second prizes were bagged by Shiekh Yamina of Green Educational Institute and Vaneesa Munir of Delhi Public School Budgam respectively.
Consolation prizes for first, second and third places were bagged by Maryam of Delhi Public School, Budgam, Urwat Shafi of Green Valley Educational Institute and Sheikh Mumin of Linton Hall School Rajbagh Srinagar. Certificates of merit in senior category were bagged by Syed Hooran, Jeelani of Linton Hall School Rajbagh and Zainab Nazir of Green Valley Educational Institute.
In amateur group first, second and third places went to Irmeen Khan of Srinagar British School, Huma Khurshid of Delhi Public School, and Shaziya Iqbal of Government Higher Secondary School Sonawar
respectively. Certificates of merit in amateur group were bagged by Sajid Dar of Srinagar British School and Iqra Ashraf of Government Higher Secondary School Sonawar.
