Centre instructs J&K on separatist arrest, release; total confusion: Omar

SRINAGAR : Hitting out at the Jammu and Kashmir coalition government for taking instructions from the Centre and imposing restrictions on separatist leaders and later releasing them, former chief minister Omar Abdullah said it was total confusion in Kashmir.

The working president of the National Conference said, “shelling from across the border, terrorist attacks and arrest of separatists clearly indicates that no side (India and Pakistan) wanted to talk but yet neither side has the guts to call it off.”

Talking to micro-bloging site Twitter, Mr Abdullah said, “Shame on Mufti Syed for arresting on demand. He had no business following his masters orders & detaining the Hurriyat leaders like this.”

“Why? No absence of coordination – Centre say arrest so arrested, centre says release so released.Perfect coordination,” he tweeted.

Mr Abdullah said, “J&K State government in the past have never detained the APHC leaders so as to prevent them from visiting the Pak High Commission,” adding, “Playing out in Kashmir – confusion, pure & simple unadulterated confusion.” The only word that describes all this – bizarre!!!!!!.”

“If the centre was so keen to prevent the Hurriyat leaders from meeting pakistan Prime Minister Nawaj Sharif’ Advisor Sartaj Aziz they should’ve been told to detain them on their own.”

“I’ve never seen an Indo-Pak dialogue where both sides are so keen to sabotage it. India & Pak competing to give reasons to call off talks,” he said.

It’s so obvious that Ufa & now these planned NSA talks are under international pressure with both India & Pakistan hoping the other will pull out, he added. (AGENCIES)_
