SRINAGAR, Aug 20: In continuation with its efforts to provide quality health care to the people of remote areas, the Army today said that it organised a medical camp at Dudi village of Machil in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
A defence spokesman said that the camp aimed at providing medical facilities to the local populace of remote areas at their door steps. “Locals of all age groups turned up in large numbers to utilize the medical services. A joint team of Army and civil doctors provided medical treatment to a total of 232 patients including 82 males, 66 females and 84 children. Medicines were distributed to the villagers free of cost. Refreshments were also organized for the population who had come from far flung areas,” he said.
The team also educated the villagers on health and hygiene and first aid life saving skills. “The medical camp received an overwhelming response from local population,” the spokesman said.
He said that the locals appreciated the efforts of the army and requested for more such camps to be organized in future as these camps have brought medical facilities to the door-steps of the people living in remote and inaccessible areas.
